I’m loving to watch my little girls grow, but that also means that my little girls are becoming more and more of a handful. As Bee is very mobile and can be helpful, Butterfly is trying to move ~ possibly crawling in the near future. Bee wants to spend every day with “friends” and if she doesn’t, she isn’t a happy camper. Read the beginning of my series of Bee’s Buzzings!

This week, I’m paired up with Shelley, the awesome mom over at DIY Mama. Her blog is full of do it yourself projects, realizations for herself and her little bean, Sophie. She’s got a wonderful 35 by 35 list, even though she’s not quite 34, which is WAY more organized than I am. I’m planning on putting together a 36 by 36 (I’m already 35!). Shelley actually completes the “to do” pile that I know I have sitting in my “basket”. Check out the answers to my questions
here!
1. I fall into luck very easily. Have you or your family won anything? I win things fairly often. Sometimes great prizes, sometimes not great. Tickets to concerts, top of the line chocolates, some other things. I rarely enter things that I’m not sure I could do, like vacations. And I’m always cautious about winning a super big prize. Over $500 (I think, don’t quote me), you have to pay taxes on it! I don’t have any money to pay taxes and I don’t want to sell the item to pay them either. Oh how I would love a free car about now though!
2. Does your family have any traditions for Memorial Day weekend? Not at all. We don’t have many family traditions at all. Now that we’ve moved across country, maybe we’ll start making some.
3. What’s one song you wouldn’t mind waking up to every morning? There are so many! Why? Because I still sing songs from my youth regularly. I would love to wake up to Open My Heart by Yolanda Adams.
4. What is the hardest thing in your home to organize and keep organized? Bonus for pictures! Kitchen! I would love to keep our kitchen clean and clear, but as soon as you wash up the dishes, someone needs something to drink!
5. What was the last thing you totally geeked out about that no one else found awesome? I can’t remember being geeked out on anything. I like things, but never have the time to put a lot of time into it. It’s probably Beauty and the Beast when we sang it in high school. None of my friends were into Disney back then.
6. If you could take your friends and family with you to live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Nice, France. I love the area, not quite city, country or suburbia. On the Mediterranean and a great city to live in.
7.I have a lot of skills that I wish I were better at but don’t want to take the time to practice and improve. If there was a way to enter a contest to win a skill, what skill would you want to win? Playing piano or being confident to promote myself. I think highly of myself, but I have problems telling others about it. Why is this important? Because I want to be an entrepreneur and you don’t do that not talking about yourself! Playing piano because I would love to be able to play the piano and sing like Alicia Keys!
8. I can’t stand not having polish on my toes or leaving the house without mascara. Is there any girlie product you don’t like to be without? Nope! I wish there were a way I could get rid of all my girlie products and just be me. But “just me” has imperfections that can either be hidden, enhanced or altered by certain girlie products!
9. It’s almost summer time! Camping or hotels? Hotels! No one dreams of sleeping in their backyard, yet somehow this is a vacation for some. Not I! Hotels ALL THE WAY!
10. Finish this sentence ‘Sometimes I ________ when no one’s watching.‘ I answered singing the last time I was asked. This time, I’ll say dancing. Who sings without dancing? A little booty shake with music.
Bonus: Answer one question you asked me! I noticed on your “Truth” page, you talk about forgiveness. I have had to forgive someone very close to me. Do you have to forgive someone in your life? Have you forgiven them? Well, I guess my answer is in my question. I have struggled with forgiveness for a long while. See, I thought you say the words and all was forgiven, but I had to work through the process (whatever that actually means). I needed to be at a place where bringing up their name or hearing about them didn’t bring intense emotion ~ anger or sadness. I felt I had to get to place that little emotion was felt, not shown, to know I had truly forgiven this person.

You should totally start some new family traditions! You have young kids so it'll be easy to start them now! Our kitchen is the same! As long as I have the island cleared off, I feel better about the mess though. I can't decide if I'm a camp girl or hotel girl. I LOVE camping (even in my back yard) but I was in the hospitality business and have a love for hotels! Loved swapping with you this week! Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
We're trying, I think. Neither one of us had any particular "traditions" except he spent time with family. I wish we had an island that I could feel was clear. Next house! I'll do it, but given the choice, a warm comfy bed with a fluffy pillows is best! Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend too!
My kitchen is actually the room I keep clean the easiest, well when I am the one in it anyway! LOL Hubby and Teenager don't understand how I can cook a whole meal and the kitchen be spotless by the time the plates hit the table (I wash and clean as I do each portion… OCD Alert!)
Now that two of them can reach the counter, one's in there getting something, while the other is desperately trying (i.e., making a mess!). I used to do make sure it was all clean, then I'd turn my back only to find it dirty when I came back!
I'd love to try camping again but I hate mosquitoes! Haha so okay, I'm gonna have HOTELS most of the time! One of my dream vacations would be in France. I'd love to see the entire Paris!
I don't understand the appeal. We've spent thousands of years working to get ourselves out of nature into relatively clean homes, only to jump back into nature? Mosquitoes, ants, and other creepy crawlies! I've been to a few places, Nice was my favorite.
Great Q & A! I am not a huge fan of camping, either…I would much rather have a hotel…with running water and a flush-able toilet! LOL! I have struggled with forgiving a person close to me, too, which is even harder because that person is no longer with us. I would definitely love to visit Paris, especially from a historical aspect. I have the same kitchen issues, too. For me as soon as I get it cleaned up, the hubby decides that he is hungry! LOL! Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, April! Happy Friday!
It's hard when they have gone, but truthfully with my person, it was all the work I had to do myself. Talking to that person about my anger, frustrations or whatnot never made it easier, always worse. She has never given me any satisfaction in forgiving her, as she has never admitted any wrongdoing, and looked perplexed when confronted. I hope you can forgive that person. You'll feel a lot better.
My kitchen is one of my big struggles, too! I hear you that as soon as you get dishes done, it seems like someone brings you another! Plus our back door that we use all the time comes into the kitchen, so mail, school papers, dog leash, EVERYTHING gets dumped on the kitchen counter!
I also sing and dance when no one's looking!!
Have a fabulous long weekend, April!
No, we have our dining room table for the papers. I actually hate it when they put papers in the kitchen. Almost every time something gets wet and destroys it! I hate it!
Not a fan of camping either. I think I wouldn't be able to fall asleep just thinking about everything that crawls under or around me. Also, sounds like MrsTee and my hubby would get along great in the kitchen – he cleans up as he is doing everything as well! I usually leave it all until after dinner! Have a great Memorial Day weekend April!
LOL! I would love to have MrsTee in my kitchen! It would make my life easier. But there's so much in the house to clean! With two little ones, especially with a toddler, nothing ever feels clean!
We have a new memorial day plan for a very long time now. My youngest son was born a few days before the holiday 3 years ago and for the last few years we have had his birthday party over the long weekend. I am sure one day we might have to adjust is when he gets a bit older.
Oh I would never want to go camping over a hotel! No way.
And these are such nice songs to listen to while I read/write. I would love to play piano. I wish I had learned.
Have a great weekend, April!
It's one of the few things that I'm "forcing" on my child, Tamara. I don't want to live through my son, because it's his own life, but I know learning instruments is something that's best done young. Thankfully, he likes it!
Great songs! I also am a hotel person. I can only really remember camping less than a handful of times. It's really not for me. I love both of the songs you linked to!
I love the way that Open My Heart is a great reminder to open my heart to HIM… and when I do start my day listening to it, which sometimes I do, my day goes so much better! I think camping is for certain people, Carla, I guess we just aren't one of them!
Love these! I am totally with you on hotels vs. camping. And my kitchen seems to get messed up despite my constant efforts to clean and organize.
Sometimes I just want to put a sign saying "Do Not Enter Until the Next Meal" so it will stay clean more than the few minutes after I finished!
I never win anything! So I was fascinated to read there are people out there who easily win stuff. Good for them!
I don't know if this helps, obviously, but I always say that I want something and I say it with authority. Sometimes it works. LOL!
That kitchen looks like mines right now and it's only 9 in the morning
I honestly try to get it cleaner, or even clean it at night so I can wake up to a clean kitchen. It doesn't always look great in the morning! Let me know if you have any tips, Natasha!
I will take a hotel over camping any day. I'm not the outdoors sleeping type either. I have a hard time keeping my counters free of cluter. I have on counter that always has junk mail and other random things.
I really hate the clutter! I wish there was a way to clean up, kick every one out, then only let them in when I'm ready to clean again. LOL!
I didn't think we had that many family traditions at all, but then my daughter started telling her brother things like: "Do you remember when we ________? That's a tradition in our family." Most of the things I now think of as traditions are things Frances has labelled that way!
You know, I should ask my son what he considers traditions in our family. He may have a completely different interpretation! Sometimes the kids know better than us. That's really cool that Frances feels that you have some things that bring you closer!
That must be nice! Hard to forget it. I'm sure in the future, it'll be different, but it sounds awesome!
