I have three living children, but only one is the precocious Bee. She is the most entertaining. From her love of lotion to her insistence of playing “Baby All Night” (yes, Beyonce’s Drunk in Love… don’t judge) just one more time, she keeps me on my toes and laughing!
This edition, I would like to introduce you to a day in the life of Bee, since there truly is no better way to get to know her.
Wake up between 6 and 6:30 a.m. If she’s not in our bed already, she comes in mouth blazing… giggles and squeals. By morning, Butterfly is typically in our bed, which means that it’s Bee’s responsibility to wake her up for us with a screeching ‘Butterfly sleep’, regardless of whether she’s sleep or not. Butterfly’s eyes pop open in a sense of fear, yet acceptance. Then Bee lays on Butterfly, showering her with hugs, kisses and a her body weight.
We get ready to go and she decides that she doesn’t want to put clothes on. These seems very typical of this age, and it probably is, but when you’re trying to get your fourth grader to school on time, it’s no longer helpful or fun to deal with.
After J and I wrestle her to get clothed and breakfast is eaten, we go for our nice 30 minute drive to drop off my son and my husband. The ride there is normally fairly uneventful, she’s still rubbing her eyes enjoying the sunlight. The ride home tells another story.
She let’s us know that she completely understands her directions and at each corner we should be making a right by yelling “THIS WAY”. Thankfully not turning doesn’t upset her, until she asks where we’re going. We typically goes to my cousin’s house, her “TiTi’s house”. Even though she enjoys being there, she screams and starts to climb out of her car seat upon learning the destination.
Her attention quickly turns to the radio because a commercial came on… she constantly asks for “Happy” or “Baby All Night”, which I desperately search all 18 stations for over and over again until one of the songs come on. This continues until she yells, kicks and screams and tells me to shush and/or hand her the remote, to which I reply by changing the station to classical music to which she complains until she realizes the channel isn’t changing.
We arrive at my cousin’s house to workout. She switches between encouraging, giving us high fives for completing hard exercises, to purposely laying on the floor right under my legs, to attacking her sister to watching Netflix on the .
The rest of the day is pretty much like this… except until I want to put her to sleep (for her nap or for the night) which she promptly replies that it’s not time for sleep and I’m not going, which sounds more like “No bed, no bed, no bed”. Once I can quiet her down she passes out like a light.
She will happily willingly forceably sleep in her bed until around 2 a.m., when she decides she can ONLY sleep in our bed. Putting her back in her bed is a challenge, mainly because it’s 2 a.m. and I want to ! I try normally twice, but by 3, she’s made her way back in for the third time and I just say that I’ll try again the next night. And I don’t.
That’s my little introduction to Bee. Overall, there’s more action involving her than my husband, and two other children combined.
Do you have a child like this? If not, would you like to take Bee for just a day or two? I’m willing to drive!

Ready for a new book to read? Check out this quick read (that I co-authored) on being a Christian wife! Stories and very practical advice!
Bee and Lily would be fast friends, especially about the car and the directions, because Lily does this to me all the time, plus adds the color of the traffic lights fro good measure, too
I know she knows the color, but I haven't yet taught her the meaning. I'm always torn between teaching her something new and holding off because I know she'll use it against me! LOL!
She is too cute!! Little busy Bee!!
Yes, yes she is!
I think Bee and Des would get along very well. I'd love to take her for a day or two but it would be a far drive! Although you do love the weather up here.
So Des will be two in June. Yesterday I dropped Scarlet off at school and turned on the radio. "Let it Go" was on! I thought, "Yes! Scarlet isn't here. I can turn it off!" And nope. Des piped up from the backseat, "Let it DOH!"
I'm so glad Butterfly isn't there yet! She loves all of our singing, but there's no requisite to the song! But that may quickly change. She's becoming more demanding as she gets older.
I have one myself, although she never slept in our bed. She is still very active and constantly a little whirlwind!
They never disappoint as a form of constant entertainment!
Bee sounds like a little ball of energy! An entire workout all on her own. Love it! It's been a long time since I had that.
Yes she is. For a long while, it annoyed me because I'm very calm, but I realized that this is just who she is and I'm ok with it and her.
Oh dear, 6-6:30am is way too early for me! I am not a good morning mommy!
I'm not either, and it certainly doesn't make for a good day either! I need my 8 hours and hate missing it!
Bee sounds like fun! I have a precocious Vee. She is 4 and keeps me in stitches. Today we arrived at a birthday party and she commented on the streamers outside the house, "Wow, the decorations seem primitive." I blame too much inappropriate television.
I just linked up to Countdown In Style. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
LOL! Primitive? Hey, if that's the worst that comes out her mouth, I won't be upset! Did she use it appropriately? Were the decorations "Primitive"? Thanks for linking up, my Countdown in Style post went live late today But it's up now!
wow April I got exhausted for you just by reading the goings and comings but then again i do love busy bees lol x
She is definitely a pleasure, but always on the go! I fought it at first but things are a lot better, just going with the flow, Myrabev.
thankfully their out of that phaze. Kyle graduates from high school thursday and big mile stone. Next my youngest will graduate in 3 years (hopefully he was in home and hospital for 1 1/2 because of heatlh issues) praying I just get them through. You will get your children to this point too it just takes time. Take a deep breath and relax big zen hugs to all and happy memorial day
Yes, in the beginning, I was overwhelmed by all of the commotion. Now, I try to go with the flow so that I can relax. She likes to keep it going though! I can't turn my back, Robin. Congratulations on getting yours through high school Robin. I know it's a blessing to know that they're graduating. Thanks for the big zen hugs and happy Memorial Day to you too!
This post makes me remember when my boys were little and how busy you are with them at that age. I was super busy when my twins were little – I am still busy with my 3 sons now that they are older but in different ways – I miss some of those toddler stages. Good for you getting your workout in even with a little one under foot- probably literally sometimes!
Very much so Kimberlee! Whenever I do the push-ups, she wants to sit on my back, or if I jump side to side, she likes to jump, right under me! It's frustrating sometimes, but definitely worth it.
Aw! Your little Bee sounds so precious! I love this post. I hope you will be able to share it with her when she gets older so she can see how she was as a child.
She is. I had to learn to love her… because she's everything I'm not, but on the other hand, she's everything I want to be. I love watching her grow and learn.
