#AskAwayFriday with Stephanie {So, I’ve Been Thinking}

#AskAwayFriday has been revamped and now brought to you by some wonderful hosts, where we have the opportunity to ask 10 questions of another blogger and they ask us 10 questions back! I enjoy it so much, this is my 15th week! Scroll to the very bottom to check out my old posts!

Here are our new hosts:

Tamara from Tamara Like Camera,
Tiffany from Mrs. Tee Love Life Laughter,
Christy from Uplifting Families,
Stacey from This Momma’s Ramblings
and
Amber from Bold Fit Mom
This week, I switch with Stephanie from So, I’ve Been Thinking. She is a full-time wife and mother of three. She has a wonderful blog covering such a variety of creative subjects. I will be referring back to her cocktail section often. Who doesn’t love a good cocktail?

1. I see you are a fitness coach what is your hands-down favorite workout? Plyometrics from P90X. I love jumping and working out my legs. I used to have a very sexy behind and legs. I’m working to get those back!

2. If you are short on time and only have 30 minutes to exercise what do you recommend for the fastest calorie blast. Now we have SOOO many options, it’s really awesome. It depends on your style of exercise. For a no weight, intense physically active workout, you do TurboFire that has several HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts that are less than 30 minutes. If you like additional intensity, but more athletic, you can try out Focus T25. Now, if you like to use weights, we have P90X3. Finally we just introduced 21 Day Fix which is a three week program of all 30 minute workouts! I’m doing 21 Day Fix right now. I’ve used muscles that i haven’t used in YEARS. I’m going to do a write up of this one next week!

3. What is your favorite smoothie to make at home? Because a lot of smoothies require quite a lot of fruit, which normally takes out my sugar for the day, I often don’t make them. That said, there are two that I love! One with Chocolate Shakeology: 8 ounces of chilled coffee, a dash of pure vanilla extract, a cup of frozen coffee (in ice cubes to stop it from being tasted watered down) and a scoop of Shakeology. Tastes like a chocolate shake. When I run out of Shakeology, I have a Green Smoothie, 2 cups of Kale, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of non-fat greek yogurt, 3 cups of frozen mixed berries. Yum!

4. What is your favorite television show, song or book right now? I’m a TV junkie these days. There are a lot of good shows out there. But Scandal is my favorite hands down! I’m also a huge fan of the Real Housewives franchise. I don’t have any drama in my life, or minimal drama, so I get to live through all of these other people!

5. What is your go-to, done in a hurry, family meal for those nights you need something healthy and fast? My go to is spaghetti. You can’t beat it and I always have the components in my fridge and/or freezer. I don’t typically eat the pasta, I’m not that big of a fan of it, but my family indulges!

6. If you are stranded on an island what 3 items do you want to have with you? Cell phone, television, and a bed. I don’t think I need explanation, do I?

7. Do you have a movie that you watch over and over? I don’t watch movies over and over really. I’ve probably seen the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast at least 50 times, but that’s more because my siblings loved it growing up and I had to watch it with them. I’ll watch Shawshank Redemption if it’s on.

8. Tell me what you would do for the day if money were no object, you had no deadlines and you were going to do something fun with your family. I’m going to Disneyland… or Disney World now that we’re in Florida. When we lived in California, we only went to Disneyland once, even though most of my friends had annual passes. I just couldn’t see us spending that much money on one day when we’re trying to pay off our debt. Even that day was only because we got free tickets for Give a Day, Get a Day, a volunteer program Disneyland had for one year and has not been repeated.

9. Would you rather go on an amazing vacation or have a new car? New car! It will last longer. I would love a vacation, but right now, we’re sharing one car, we desperately need a new one, but there are so many things in front of it, that it’s not the wisest decision right now.

10. Blogging summary: You’ve been blogging for a while now, do you have someone that you bounce ideas off of or do you go it strictly alone. If you need help with something technical or have questions about blogging where do you go/who do you go to for the answer. Have you been to a blogging conference? If yes, please tell me one thing you learned. If no, I’d still like to hear one thing you feel is most important to having a successful blog. Wow! That’s a lot of question!

I go blogging alone. Even though I’m social, I don’t reach out to people like most others do. I wouldn’t know who to ask or what to ask them. I have spent most of my life not really being able to depend on anyone. I think only two people from my “real” life reads this blog, even though many know about it. And they have never so much as commented. So there’s that.

If I need help with something, I’ve had two awesome blogging buddies who have helped me at every turn – Lanaya from Raising Reagan and Janine from Confessions of a Mommyaholic. They have been sweet, kind and helpful. I couldn’t really ask any more in a friend.

I haven’t been to a blogging conference, see answer 8 re: money. I think education is key. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning (and still make more), but a lot would’ve been avoided if I had taken the time to read and learn first. See this answer on why I didn’t reach out for help first. There are so many resources out there, some free, some paid, but it’s worth taking the time to figure out what you need, without stumbling into it yourself, like loading your page with plugins wo your page takes FOREVER to load or running contests 90% of the posts so that people come click and run and you never see them again.

  1. Wonderful answers! I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast, one of my favorites. My two lil ones could eat spaghetti always, it is definitely one of their favorite meals…especially if garlic bread is involved. Those smoothies sound yummy. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, April!

    • If I do opt for bread, I'd take garlic bread any day over pasta! Oh it's so yummy. I've even made garlic butter!

  2. I loved reading this and getting to know you better. You did a great job of featuring everyone, too – I should go edit mine a bit…

I love Scandal, too, but I have never seen a single episode of any of those Housewives shows. I don't actually watch too much reality tv anymore period. Maybe its time, maybe its me? I don't know.

Thank you for swapping with me April! Have a great weekend!

    • NO! I don't recommend watching them! LOL! I started watching them because it was a common ground with a family member or two, and next thing I know, I'm hooked! You'll get all caught up in their drama. I don't mind since I don't have much in my life, but if you've managed to avoid it so far… keep it that way! Shonda Rhimes is AWESOME!

  3. I'm a smoothie lover but I'm still scared to start adding in the veggies and such. I still do all fruit and yogurts… i have never been a big veggie gal so I just think I need to get past it…right? LOL

Great swap as always! So glad to have you be a continued part of #AskAwayFriday…

    • If you have a good blender or processor, you don't really notice it. Fruit (and yogurt) take over most tastes. Kale is a somewhat strong flavor. Start with adding in just a leaf at a time. There may be a point where you taste it. The hardest part is getting over SEEING that all of your smoothies are green! LOL!

  4. Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies of all time. Same with Beauty and the Beast!
I've never seen Scandal but I really want to start from the beginning. I totally tune out spoilers online so I think I could pull it off!
And a bed, TV and a cellphone on a deserted island? Sounds perfect!

    • I catch everything from the beginning. I didn't see Grey's Anatomy until last season and caught every episode on Netflix, my love (after my family and dvr). I'm certainly NOT sleeping on a bed of leaves! LOL

  5. I can't figure out if I'd rather take a vacation or have a new car. That's a really tough one. Yes, a car would last a lot longer, but there are places that I would absolutely love to go on vacation. Hmmm…

    • Unfortunately, I'm way too pragmatic to go on vacation. I would spend the entire time thinking about a wonderful car, instead of the crowded one that I have!

  6. Your chocolate smoothie!! Aww, I love anything choco and I think I'd love your shakeology too! I'd also love to have a car but first I have to learn how to drive. LOL. Apparently, commuting is very common in my country.

I'm not yet very comfortable sharing my blog to people I personally know so most of my readers and blog friends are those I met online and it's amazing how real you all/they can be even though I haven't met you/them in real life.

    • I actually love that my blogging friends are closer than my family and friends. There's something freeing about the ability to open up and really say what's on your mind. I'm not saying that you can say EVERYTHING, but it's a lot more than you can say in person. Or at least me. I know others are more open with their family! I've been driving for twenty years now. It amazing how quickly time flies! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I have to admit – P90X scares me. I've never tried it, but I keep hearing people say it absolutely kills them. And while I'd love to tone up, I don't want a workout where I feel dead at the end!
Spaghetti is one of my go-to meals, as well! Easy and everyone loves it!
    Great swap this week!
    Have a wonderful week!!

  8. I have been tempted to try making smoothies but like you said it looks like a ton of work for a drinkable meal. Plus fruit isn't exactly cheap which is sad because the high cost of produce makes it so much harder to eat healthy.

    Reply
    • It may be more expensive in the upstart, the more healthy foods you eat, the less you end up eating. I can go to the farmer's market, spend $20 and the family can eat for at least a couple of days, eating veggies and/or fruit with every meal. Actually we went from $300 to $200 a paycheck incorporating more veggies. You also eat less when you eat more real food. But I'll get off my soapbox now. I use a magic bullet which stays on the counter, I normally make enough for two shakes and if you prep, takes less than 5 minutes!

  9. I love Shawshank Redemption too…not only is it a great movie, but Morgan Freeman is one of my favorite actors ever. He has the most calming voice too. I have seen it probably 20 times. I do watch the same movies over and over…especially the sports ones…those are the ones that hook me. It was fun learning more about you today!
