I keep telling myself that I’m going to walk. I mean, what’s the easiest (and cheapest) thing to do when you have two under two and you need exercise. There’s tons of postpartum exercises, but with two little ones running around your feet, you may not have the time or the ability to get in a solid 60 minute workout.
Yet, we can walk… Strap up the little ones in the stroller and get out there.
And lately, I haven’t. At the beginning of the year, I was diligent in taking my kids to the mall and walking (indoors) at the mall that opens at 7. But with two girls and their eating schedules, it’s not quite so easy to do, after driving my husband to work. It was just too much.
So, I slowed… stopped. But I know I need to do something on a daily basis to keep my weight in check.
When I received the Walkadoo Pebble in the mail, I was looking forward checking my steps. My phone has an app, but as a SAHM, I don’t have my phone on me all the time. So, I clipped it on… then ten minutes later, the baby hit it and it fell off.
If you’ve followed some of my reviews, I’m not quick to check the directions first. I want to see if I can figure it out on my own. Yet this little black thing, I had no idea what to do with it. So to the directions I went.
How to Use:
First, you have to sign up at their site: Walkadoo at MeYouHealth. Super simple.
Second, you have to set up your Personal SyncPoint. This is the USB drive that you plug into your computer so that the Pebble syncs with their site.
Third, start WALKING! You have tap the Pebble five, yep 5!, times to sync up your device to see the results.
I didn’t walk nearly as much as I thought… I’m talking under 1,000 steps a day. So disappointing. I feel like I’m on my feet running around my house all the time.
Pros:
- Small
- Inconspicuous (attaches to your shirt or bra)
- The device is easy to use
- The website is easy to use and pretty fun (more on this coming up in a future post!)
Cons:
- Needs to be clipped to thick fabric. My sports bra works great, my regular bra, not so much
- The fast 5 tap. You have to tap it 5 times fast. Sounds simple enough until you do it and nothing lights up. You start to question if you can count.
- Comes off easily. I spent almost an hour looking for it because Butterfly pulled it off, which leads me to the next two points.
- Small – hard to find when you are surrounded by toys all of the time.
- Inconspicuous – even if I wasn’t in a sea of toys all of the time, it’s small inconspicuous nature makes it hard to see, it’s just a little black thing.
- Thus, Hard to Find when lost.
Outcome:
Overall, since it’s small, I can wear it EVERYWHERE! I keep it on, wherever I go, and no one knows. As long as I keep my kids’ hands away from it, I have no problem keeping it on. I love syncing it to see my progress. So far, my best day was 6,244 steps and my best week was 14,964. With the best day of over 6,000, the other days were about 1,000 a piece! Pathetic!
Time to get walking! Tell you more next week!
Haven't been here for quite some time! But so glad to be able to visit again. That little black thing is so interesting. I love walking and I'm curious to know how many steps I usually take everyday. Ha! I guess I'd love the sense of achievement in this.
I can't say that I was happy to find out. But it was enlightening to know.
