It’s Friday again, or for me, Thursday, since I post this early and I have opened myself to being asked anything under the sun and I answer with honesty!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with #AskAwayFriday it’s an amazing way to meet new bloggers, make friends and ask some questions to get to know them better! We now have four permanent hosts ~ Penny at The Real Housewife of Caroline County, Tiffany at Mrs. Tee – Love, Life, and Laughter, Amber at Bold Fab Mom and Stacey at This Momma’s Ramblings. 10 questions are exchanged and answered on your partners blog, you can get as creative as you want and even get into our purses!
This is my Week 10 of #AskAwayFriday where I spill my guts to all of you!
Check them all out!
This week, I switch questions with Raw Food eater, Effie Girl, self-proclaimed fabulous 50-something, picture taking addict, creative DIY’er, jewelry hoarder, beauty junkie who loves her pups and her peeps. From what I’ve read, checked out and semi-stalked, I’ll have to agree! She is my tv junkie soulmate and look forward to finding more about her this week as we exchange questions for #AskAwayFriday!
You are totally my TV Junkie BFF! I have watched them season after season, all of them. While stalking your blog, I “TVFishBowl”, remember DC? Yeah, they lasted long, haha. So I’m starting out on this subject.
1. Atlanta HW, Mama Joyce gets on my nerves tremendously! I know our mom ‘is our mom’, but c’mon Kandi, grow a back-bone! I’d have to respectfully, let my mother know she’s over stepped her boundaries. Your thoughts? Coming from someone who stopped talking to her mother because she didn’t respect her boundaries, I am certainly NOT #TeamKandi or #TeamJoyce on this issue. I don’t understand what she feels she’s losing by stepping up. So, her mother gets her way. Then, Kandi is on the hunt again, hoping to find a man. She wants more children, when is all of this supposed to happen? Todd seems like a good guy and if you have to set him up to try to get him to fall, then he can’t be that bad.
2. Is Atlanta your favorite, and only one you watch? Share your guilty TV pleasures. It’s the one I pay the most attention to considering I write a recap every week for it. NYC is getting good, I’m tired of NJ and Miami. I will finally openly admit that I watch almost every show on Bravo and most evening shows on ABC, CBS and NBC! I DVR it, and the weekends are my friend! LOL!
3. Springing ahead, what will be your first pleasure to celebrate the coming (eventually) warm weather? Since I now live in Florida, it’s not that cold. This week’s been the coldest in a while, touching on cool weather as low as 50 degrees. I know, it’s not cold at all. I’m just looking for days that I can enjoy outside, setting a schedule with my girls, teaching my daughter to ride her bike and getting some real exercise. Right now, their nap time is my blog time.
4. In weight loss, what has been your biggest hurdle to commit to? Eating properly, especially staying at home. The more I try to change my eating style, the more chocolate and candy looks good. Which when I’m not making an effort, I hardly eat. I’m about to start the 21 Day Fix though, so I’ll let you know how that goes.
5. In reading your AAF with Bev, I see you do P90X and Insanity, have you gone ‘all the way’ with them, and if so, how committed were you? Super committed. I actually did the whole P90X program to the end and the first 30 days of Insanity (Insanity is a 60-Day program). I took off 40 pounds in 4 months without really purposefully changing my eating. When you are committed to working out, certain foods just don’t sit well with you, so I had kinda stopped eating them.
6. What is your most memorable family event with your husband and children in the past few years? We have so few… until we moved to Florida, family time was only on weekends and weekends consisted of watching television because with a long commute, my husband felt like he was working 12 hour days. I would have to say Thanksgiving right before Miss Bee was born. For some reason when I was 36 weeks pregnant, I decided to host my first ever Thanksgiving. Maybe it was me nesting or something. But the entire family came over and we had a blast.
Yes, I know you said hubby and children, but we haven’t done much together except play outside or watch television. We are working on changing that though. We just drove up the coast to Cape Canaveral, which is unlike us. 😉
7. Eating healthy is something we have in common, what is your favorite “fall off the wagon” go-to food? I try, I really do. I need to revamp my kitchen. One of the hardest thing about moving across country is that you have to rebuild your entire stock of foods, spices and herbs. We haven’t yet gotten to the place where I can buy “me only” foods. But to answer your question, apple pie is something that I always have to have if it’s presented!
8. Do you have a bad habit? If so, share! We’re all friends here 😉 I crack my knuckles with the worst of them. My older brother used to do it when I was younger, so I know how to crack almost every joint in my body, from neck to toes. It’s awful because now, often things will hurt if I don’t crack it.
9. How creative are you? Share a recent DIY project, in pictures please. I like to do things myself mainly because I rarely see things that are to my liking. But I don’t always have time. This project was super simple, and I was going to show it when the room was complete, but I made my son’s curtains. Yes, those are lime/neon green walls. Finding a curtain to match his neon green and navy blue room. I found this fabric and made some quick blackout curtains.
10. Using the letters, C F W, what word starting with each letter, would describe you?
Caring, fair and weird.
Loved swapping questions with you, April! It is hard to not eat something 'bad' when you are home all day, I get that. I make dips from good foods like red peppers/hummus, to eat celery or even apples or carrots with. Those things you can snack on all day. I want to get my hubster to do the P90X with me, even the 30 they have now would be fun to do together. I have a 10-miler coming up in a month, so I need to build up some strength and get moving in many areas. This winter just drags you down. Lucky you in the 50's, I'd go out and play in that weather! I AM A DVR JUNKIE! If we were neighbors, we could put the TV outside and have Bravo night, every night!
Thanks for Q&A'ing with me! Have a great weekend. xo
We could completely double up on DVR'ing capabilities if we were neighbors… you take some shows, I'll take the other because I have found that 90% of the shows I like all come on at the exact same times! I'm working on my husband too. For my birthday, I want to go Paintballing and his response? "Not if it's too soon". What? What's too soon? Anyway, P90x3 is only 30 minutes and so is Focus T25. I can give you info on both if you're interested!
First, I love how you have each week posted and who you swapped with…cool idea! Secondly, I agree completely with the whole eating healthy. I love, love, love sweets so sometimes it can be pretty tough! 😉
YOu know, I had a bunch of people ask about prior posts and since my search didn't seem to be working for them, I figured I'd help them out 😉 I don't love sweets… well, that's not true… it's not my love of sweets that gets me, it's having them here for the kiddos and trying to find a reason to take a break from the computer and/or kids. Arrgh! I love this swap!
We just got our DVR back after thinking we didn't really need it because of how many shows you can watch online. NOT TRUE! There is nothing like my DVR…I am so happy it's back. I'm not big on the reality shows but I love my crime, drama and YA Series…lol
I also hosted my very first Thanksgiving (for an entire group of my Hubby's soldiers…like 10 who ate like 30) but I was 40 weeks …I don't know what I was thinking either but I had my daughter 2 days later! LOL
No, I don't have time to look it up on Hulu Plus or Netflix. And I love the quality of HD over everything else and the ease! There's just so much more involved with the other sites. Don't get me wrong, I watch my share of crime and drama shows too. I have not gotten into YA though. LOL! Nothing like hosting your first Thanksgiving when you're super pregnant and ready to burst!
A fellow knuckle and joint cracker!! My kids laugh at me for how much I crack my body!
And love those curtains!! I've always wanted to make some curtains for rooms like our playroom and my bedroom, but never seem to get up the courage to sew something!
These were super, super simple and no-sew. I can so, but it just takes so much more time!
I want to learn how to sew so that I can make curtains and dresses. My son wants a red and blue room. So I’ve been trying to find ideas for a nice red and blue look. He wants Super Mario bedding and curtains to go in his room once we paint it. He is six now so hopefully, he will like red and blue for a couple of more years. He likes to change his favorite color a lot.
Oh, I have to do a tutorial… These were super simple, without a sewing machine. My son's favorite color isn't lime green, but he wanted a lime green room. The great thing about paint is it's fairly cheap, but will completely change the look of a room! Less than 30!
Those are cute curtains! I have made a couple of pairs over the years…an outer space pair and a camo pair for lil man. I will probably have to make a funky colored pair for lil miss' room, too. I totally agree that eating properly is hard to do sometimes. That has for sure been hard for me. Hope you have a great weekend!
Curtains can really make the room. My son picked out the fabric himself! He LOVED the colors! I need to get it together and not be quite so lazy! It's so easy to eat junk when you're stuck holding a kid almost all day! I'm having a wonderful weekend so far! I hope you are too!
Loved these! And I most certainly agree about apple pie. Especially if it is a la mode. Yum! Hope you are having a great week!
A nice scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, delish! So far, so good. I hope this week treats you well too Marjorie!
Neon green is such a bold color and I'm glad you actually went for it! 😀 Was it yours or your son's choice? I should start having more bold and colorful colors at home because they make me happy. Love the prints on the curtains, I'd never have made that on my own, LOL!
You know, it's cheap to do (maybe a little time consuming), but it can completely change the look and feel of the room. I'm glad we did it too! It matches his personality!
50 degrees would be nice! I think we'll get there and higher on Tuesday here.
I'm glad you're getting more family memories. We were down in Orlando in January and it was a sunny 70 degree day so we went to a local park. My kids played with two kids there and their parents said that they can't imagine the life we have in New England – with the cold snow and darkness for months without end!
I can't imagine that either. I like the cold, and don't mind the snow, but I haven't lived in it either. I personally like the colder weather more than the warmer weather, but I don't always get that option. Thanks for stopping by!
I love how you set up your AAF post, it made it so interesting to check out your past swaps! Can't wait to swap with you! You are amazing! P90X WOW! Good for you! Jealous of your Florida weather!
I revealed my SOUL in those posts! Might as well get as many eyes on it as possible, right? LOL! No, seriously, it's just easier. I really need to get on the P90x tip again. I did that before my last two babies, and it shows… that I haven't done it in a while. Can't wait to switch with you either!
