For those of you who aren’t familiar with #AskAwayFriday it’s an amazing way to meet new bloggers, make friends and ask some questions to get to know them better!
We now have four permanent hosts ~ Penny at The Real Housewife of Caroline County, Tiffany at Mrs. Tee – Love, Life, and Laughter, Amber at Bold Fab Mom and Stacey at This Momma’s Ramblings. 10 questions are exchanged and answered on your partners blog, you can get as creative as you want and even get into our purses!
This week, I’m switching with the fabulous Penny from the Real Housewife of Caroline County, not only does she name herself after some of my FAVORITE reality shows, she looks like she could be on one too… Gorgeous! Let’s get started!
-
Do you prefer to drive or ride when traveling long distances? I like to switch up. It’s really depends on how I feel. More and more, I’m starting to like riding more than driving. Am I getting old?
My New Back Seat
- What’s your favorite dessert? Right now, anything sweet. Lol! Both of my pregnancies with my girls have given me a wicked sweet tooth (basically the last three years), that I haven’t kicked. When I’m not acting like sweets will be banished from the planet tomorrow, a good apple pie works well.
- What inspired you to get into fitness? Inspired isn’t the right word. More necessitated. I’m a big girl and it’s unhealthy. Obesity makes your heart work harder, makes you more susceptible to certain diseases, and can cause long term complications. I want to love a long life with my children and hope to meet my grand- and great grandchildren. I can’t prevent everything, but I’m going to try!
- What’s your ‘Go To’ quick fix meal? Spaghetti. Pasta, organic marinara sauce and whatever meat that we have!
- If you could give your children anything with no care for cost what would it be? Lessons in whatever they want from the best person to learn from. As they say, you can give a man a fish and they eat for a day, teach a man to fish and they will eat forever. I want them to learn something they love well that hopefully will make them some money in the future.
- Do you prefer handmade or store bought gifts? Depends. I prefer thoughtful, practical gifts. I don’t mind it being purchased or handmade. A good handmade gift is great because you can see the time and energy they put into it. The problem with handmade gifts is that they aren’t always nice. I also don’t like to fake liking it, even for my children’s sake. If I wasn’t thought of for the shopping, don’t stop by a grocery store on the way home and pick up something seasonal. I’d rather get nothing.
- What’s your dream vacation? One where money is no concern. Some place where I can get a great massage, eat great food and do some interesting things. I’m not an outdoor person, so not hiking, but creating art or touring a beautiful museum or even better yet a winery. Don’t most places have a winery?
- Do you think having boys is different from having girls? Yes! They are a lot cheaper and easier to deal with. Sons: cut hair once a week or two, buy a few clothes, buy a ball and/or a car and they’re pretty satisfied. Girls: hair everyday, lots of clothes and dolls, lots of shoe choices, just overall, there’s more choices which makes things more difficult. But personalities matter the most.
-
What’s your favorite memory since becoming a parent? Having my son. Even in my overmedicated state, I remember clearly during delivery when they told me that my child was a boy. I remember clearly smiling, then passing back out. He changed my life. He made me a mother. From that day on, I was a different woman.
Mister D – then and now
- Date Night: You Pick…a quite night at home {kid free} or a night out on the town? Most of the time, I’d prefer just to stay home. There’s just so much to deal with going out, including crowds, parking and what not. Now, if we were going out to do something, instead of watch a movie, like bowling or something, I’d rather go out.
That’s it for this week! Head over to Penny’s at Real Housewife of Caroline County to read her answers to my questions!
I would love to have you support me in my challenge to raise $1000 for children with heart diseases and defects with the Children’s Hospital and the supporting efforts of the Ronald McDonald House for Heart Month! Find out how!
Yes most places have a winery! We even have a little one a few miles from our house in the woods. It's a delight to take houseguests there!
Great! Then you'll probably find me there! I always know what to expect. LOL!
I love these kinds of posts when i really get to see you from your own point of view. There's a difference between sharing whatever you want to share and sitting down and giving thought to someone else's questions to you. Love your open and honest answers.
Such a great Q & A, ladies! Sometimes the best date nights are the ones that keep you in. Sometimes the hubby and I will go to our room and just hang out watching TV, which can be done in pj's. I am with you, not so much for the outdoors, but love a good sight to see. Hope you have a great week, April!
Yes, that's most of our date nights. I like the idea of going out, but I'd rather someone just take the kids and I can relax.
I agree boys are cheaper than girls. I have been lucky and my daughter got a bunch of hand me downs from my older sisters for most of her life. But that doesn't stop her from giving me a huge list of things that she wants.
This year, for the first time, I found the value of a list. My son, who doesn't make lists, and isn't that open about what he wants turned 10. I told him that without the list, there wasn't much that I knew what to get for him. He likes minecraft and a couple of television shows. He has plenty of art supplies and we're no longer in CA to go to a show. I made it clear that he won't get everything on the list, but at least he'll get something he wants and I don't have to guess.
