This week I’m switching with Stacey from This Momma’s Ramblings. She is a happily remarried mother of three who home schools her two youngest, and looks to live the frugal life. She ended hosting a blog hop This Momma’s Meandering Mondays. I can’t wait to see what she has from here on out!

Now on to her questions to me:

1. With Valentines day right around the corner…what kind of date night would you like to plan with the hubby?

I’m glad I reread the question. The date night I would like to plan. See, my eldest son’s birthday is on the 11th and this year, he turns the big 1-0. Previous birthdays have been super simple, only his 5th birthday we spent over $100, so we will likely be celebrating this day for him on the 14th the way the calendar is. And our anniversary is only two weeks prior.
That said, I would love my husband to whisk me away instead to a hotel, the kids to be sat by family and we see a few stage shows (preferably in New York, Broadway, I’m thinking). I get my hair and nails done, while he decks out our room. A perfect new dress, a shiny new necklace, some tall new shoes and a clutch would be in order as well. Dinner at the restaurant that is atop of NYC would be perfect.
Oh yeah, you said date nightAny night without the kids, in which HE planned the outing would be fine with me.

2. What is something that you look forward to doing with your kids when they are older, like tween/teen age?

Playing sports ~ running the football, diving for volleyballs, hitting the tennis balls, even racing, I can’t wait until they’re older.  I’m not a believer that kids should win for their self-esteem. Yet, it still sucks to win because you’re four times their age. I want true competition. I want them to beat me because they are just plain better!

3. Who is someone in your life that has influenced you into becoming the woman that you are and why?

There’s no specific person. I would say all of the women in my life have made me the woman I am in one way or another. I will say my fourth grade teacher really inspired my desire to learn and study like no other. Otherwise, there were many woman who shaped me, whether through positive or negative influence.

4. Do you have a favorite recipe from your childhood, that you now make for your family?

Nope. I don’t remember any recipe before my mother remarried and my stepfather refused to share any recipes with me. He did share one of the recipes with my sister before he passed away, which I don’t know.

5. Do you have any stories that you read to your lil ones that were ones you read as a child? What are they?

Nope. We read anything and everything. I don’t remember a particular tale from my childhood that I read.

6. Do you have a favorite book that you will read over and over?

Nope. I’m not sure why, but I rarely reread books, even if it were the only book I had. I honestly can’t remember one book I’ve read from cover to cover twice.

7. Do you have a dream that you have yet to accomplish? What is it?

Passing the bar. When I got pregnant with my eldest, I was in law school. I took the bar and missed passing by 18 points (passing score was 1430). Not passing was the first thing that I put my mind to that I have NOT accomplished! It’s burned into my mind and I have yet to pass. I guess I have to take it again to get there.

8. What kind of tunes do you have rockin your playlist now?

Goodness, it keeps on coming. I feel like I’m disappointing you since I can’t be affirmative with my answers. I don’t have a playlist really. On Pandora, I’ve been listening to the Beyonce station because I like the Drunk in Love song. I like a wide variety of music, but I rarely listen to music radio. I’m more of a talk/political radio type of gal.

9. Do you prefer working out in a gym or at home?

I prefer a gym with a friend or at home alone. I get bored quickly working out in the gym alone. Occasionally, if I go play basketball or take a class, I’ll stay engaged, but if I don’t have a friend by my side, I don’t push myself. I think about how much I’d rather not be in front of all these people and be home instead. Plus, I love my DVDs, which I watch in accompaniment to my favorite shows.

10. What made you decide to become a coach with Beachbody? What would you say to someone interested in making an income from it?

I had major success with P90x and Insanity, losing 40 pounds in 4 months with very little dietary changes. Then someone told me that I could be a rep and make money from just talking about my success. And it worked. I love the programs and the supplements which makes things very easy to gush about.

If you wanted to make an income from it, I would say be honest and stay on your workout game. You don’t need to use a bunch of Beachbody products, you just need one that has helped YOU and you can talk about realistically. It’s super easy and it really helps me with my spending cash. Others do MUCH more with it. The sky is the limit with free trips, bonuses and meeting all of the personalities (Shaun T is my absolute favorite!)

    • Away from responsibility and away from the kids for just a night means SO Much! Doesn't it?

  2. I have heard great things about Beachbody but I haven't tried it. Great job on your weight loss.

  3. Stacey is a doll. So nice that you teamed up with her this week. I had no idea you hadn't passed the bar! I know you can pass one day if that's your goal at this point. Your date night or night on the town idea sounds romantic. Love it! I look forward to my kids getting older to play sports too.

    • No, I haven't. Considering my son was about 6 months old, I thought I would have a little more family support, at least until the exam was over. I didn't have it and my exam suffered. Anything that I don't have to plan would be awesome! I love surprises and am rarely surprised.

  4. I loved your answers! It was so much fun swapping with you this week! I kind of prefer working out at home, I feel less embarrassed in my own living room with no one watching! LOL! So far I have done pretty good about keeping it going, and even trying to step it up every few days, without over doing it since I am essentially just starting out. Hope you have a great weekend, April!

    • That's so good that you tpush a little harder. Big changes take baby steps. No need to make leaps and bounds. I felt bad answering. I don't have much from my childhood that I bring to now. It wasn't a bad childhood, there was just nothing particularly memorable about it, especially having to do with family.

  5. I sometimes dream of getting really dolled up even if it’s just to have dinner at home with my husband. 40 lbs in 4 months is awesome, I’ve never tried beachbody or insanity, but I checked out hip hop abs from the library and I enjoyed it. I probably should buy it, I’m not great with sit-ups, but I want to tone my abs.

    • I love the idea of getting dolled up for my husband, but when I walk in the house, I think of all the things I didn't get done that day. So, even when I have a nice day, my mind wanders. I need to find a house keeper like I did before I moved. It was AWESOME! The house was clean and I could just concentrate on him. I had reached an all time high of 260, was very committed, and quite irritated at the weight. But I stuck to it, and loved the workouts. HIp Hop Abs is awesome! There's a special to get it for $19.95! I'd really appreciate if you'd get it through me.

  6. You have a very nice idea for a date night! I'd be thrilled to have something like that too sometimes. Our date night is always really simple – eat out, karaoke, and the like. Hehe. I love the idea of real competition and letting the kids win because they're really better.

    • I want to go Karaoke singing, but I still have the newborn who hasn't spent more than a couple of hours away from me. Not ready yet. Oh, I don't let my son win, nor my daughter… But I try not to crush them.
