I admire those who can do this monthly. I can’t, but I think it’s because my goal list is really long and it would seem like I didn’t get much done in one month. So, I’m going to do a quarterly update!
As a reminder, my quote of the year is:
Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.
~Jim Rohn
My word for the year is Consistency!
Here’s the status of my goals:
1. Cultivate relationships
- God – Finish reading the bible Making GREAT progress. I’m being consistent and working my way through. I am even making up for days that I miss.
- Friends – Send out regular cards to my friends and increase my bloggy friends. I love them! I’ve been doing that and it’s about time to do it again! I like sending and I got a great response from my “real life friends”. I think I’ll start asking for addresses of my bloggy friends too!
- Business – build a quality readership, not just people who stop by once and don’t return! This has changed immensely since the beginning of the year. I think by starting Countdown in Style, I’ve managed to talk to people regularly and get to know them and let them get to know me!
- Let the real me shine through more! I started contributing regularly to #AskAwayFriday and Finish the Sentence Friday which both allow me to open up in ways that I don’t think to.
2. Lose weight
- Exercise daily. I will be getting back on a regular exercise routine ~ mixing it up between TurboFire, P90x and Insanity! I really like all three! I’ve been walking almost DAILY! I’m up to 2.5 miles. I just found out carrying my little Butterfly is costing me two minutes per mile. I really need a double stroller.
- Eat between 1200-1800 calories daily. I haven’t been counting, but this can change when I start the 21 Day Fix as soon as it arrives!
- I will be actively working towards losing 60 pounds this year. Yes, I am actively doing it!
- Tone up! Make sure that all of my muscles are strong. No strength training so far really. I’m not sure if the 21 Day Fix comes with strength training.
4. Be more organized
- Move everything from the garage into the house, or sell, donate or trash them! Not even CLOSE! My husband is on my case that I haven’t gotten in there yet.
- Keep to-do list updated. Kinda sorta, sometimes.
5. Work with my son
- Create a passion for my son. Still looking for his passion. We’re writing a song for my husband’s birthday, and I found out that our cable has art lessons. We’ll be working with him on this.
- Work with his behavior Sometimes great, sometimes not. I think he’s starting to understand that it’s not cool to be in his own world, sing to himself when people are talking to him or ignoring people.
- Get him on a chore list I’ve been bad with this. He still goes to his grandparents, but he does do some things while he’s here.
6. Work with my daughter
- Help her with her patience BIG improvements. The countdown from FIVE seems to work very well.
- Work with her to be potty trained Not at all. Since we have one car, there’s a lot of extra car rides which I don’t like taking with her working on this. I’ll probably wait until she’s completely ready or we get a new car.
- Work with her to not hurt her sister Not totally, but she’s MUCH better. Bee’s elbow doesn’t go into Butterfly’s stomach anymore, it goes on the bed.
- Start “homeschooling” her. She’s only two, so I don’t know what to expect. I’ve pretty much played (and reinforced) the DVDs, and now she can say her alphabet, sight recognize most of the letters, count to ten, sight recognize all of the numbers, knows her colors and her shapes.

What do you think? Am I making progress?
We have the same things in mind right now. Way to go!
Thanks! I'm working my way through them!
Thanks for this post. Just what I need now. I need to find motivation.
Great! What are you working on?
Yes, your list is long, I can see why you can't do monthly updates. I think you're great at cultivating relationships and I'm glad to be one of them.
I'm working on it! I still need work though. Thanks. I really appreciate getting to you know you!
Those are admirable goals! For the decluttering of the garage you may find FlyLady to be helpful (and free). She has a plan for every space in the house and her plans work in 15 minute chunks so slowly but surely you can get it done. Where I live it's still very cold, so no outside work is going on.
I'll have to check her out. Part of my problem is that I'm a packrat, especially with paper. I can almost always find a reason to keep something. I'm not a hoarder… and digital cameras have helped a lot (I have made photo albums for some of the stuff). But I hate throwing away pieces of things that I can't remember where they come from, because I just might need it. Anyway, I'll check her out! I need all the help I can get.
