I have finally taken my Walkadoo and done some REAL walking! I’ve hit my goal every day this week but yesterday. What I am loving about my Pebble with Walkadoo is that my goal changes each day, and changes based on my walking pattern. I don’t exactly know how they do it, but the first day, the goal was the 10,000 steps, which I found was a LOT for me! LOL! Then it slowly adjusted down to about 400. Yep, I was only walking 400 steps in a day. Then meeting the goal started meaning something. It meant I was REALLY lazy if I didn’t hit the 400 step goal. At 10,000 it seemed insurmountable, yet at 400, I said I could do it. Each day, it seems that it slowly goes up, which means that at the end of the day, I do a little extra walking even if it’s just in circles around the house. I actually look forward to wearing it everyday! Find out more about Walkadoo here! You can link up more devices to the site! Come join me at Walkadoo!
Now, I didn’t hit my goal yesterday because… well, I don’t have a legit reason. I was tired. It was my son’s first week back at school and my our first week with TWO cars! I thought once both my husband and I had our own cars, it would make life easier. Yet, this week was the roughest week since I became a stay at home mom. My husband is out the door with our son at 8 a.m. My son gets out at 3:30 p.m. whose school is almost 30 minutes away, and they are still working on making sure that the dismissal is smooth, yet hasn’t taken less than 20 minutes to get through the line. The longest wait time was an hour and a half.
What did NOT make it easier was that my daughter had to go to the bathroom on two of the days, which required me to park and get out of the car, then get back in line to pick up my son. One day, I was so lucky that she held it on a third day. We’re finished potty training people!
When all is said and done, I’m alone with two under three for about 11 hours a day, and with the third the last three hours. Needless to say, it’s been a high stress week! Please give me ideas on out to make 11 hours seem fun (for me, not them)!
But I’m so happy to be back here for another week. Come, link up, stay a while and check out some other posts, and make some new friends!

Thanks so much for joining us in linking up this week! Be sure and stop back by next week for more sharing and to see if you’ve been featured!
Thanks again April for hosting and enjoy the rest of the weekend!!
Thanks! I hope you're enjoying yours as well!
YAHOO! so happy that you guys featured me! I will put you on my Blog Roll
Lots of Hugs Maria
Yay! Love you lots! Glad you were featured!
I find it hard to make it to 10,000 steps too! I've been doing better and averaging about 6,000 steps, but I'm really trying to make it up to 10,000 steps a day. I usually try to put on my fit meter as soon as I wake up so all my steps are counted.
Girl, with the two girls, and it being 90 by 10 a.m., walking outside is hard! Plus at least one of my girls doesn't want to walk after 5 minutes and I have to endure screaming. I know, excuses, excuses…
Thanks for hosting the link party again this week, April. I know getting in exercise with little ones is hard. I started my workout journey back when my twins were about 2 and now they are 13. I used to workout in the evening then like around 8 or 8:30 when they went to bed or if my husband got home from work by 7 or 7:30 I would have him take care of them for 30 min. so I could workout. That 10,000 step thing is a lot! My husband had a fitbit back in the spring and was doing that – for a group thing at work. He has now lost the fitbit so he doesn't do it anymore. Do you ever take the kids (little ones) to the library? I used to do that for the free story time thing when they were little. Afterwards I would get some books for them and also for me. I always enjoyed that and it took a hour or two of our day once a week. I still enjoy going to the library and checking out cookbooks or fitness books, fiction, too. Have a great Sunday! Kimberlee
I keep forgetting about the library! We go, but always miss story time. I will have to look them up in the area. I may try to hit them all up every week! LOL!
I'm walking more, but making sure that I get it in. My toddler is a terrible sleeper. I'm lucky if I get her down before 9, and she's normally up by 7 and hates naps. I didn't realize that kids could operate on so little sleep. I will have to make a commitment to it though!
It's not always easy, but I lost triple digits and of course I had days where I didn't meet my goals, but overall I still managed to lose my weight.
Wow! You go girl! What's your process? I've lost 40… then had two babies, so still working on getting back down
Great link up party, I always appreciate that. Good luck to you.
Thanks so much! I appreciate the support.
I had never heard of walkadoo before. I think I need to check into it.
It's actually pretty cool. This is my first real pedometer that links with a website and I was hesitant. I love the little community it has though. They are super supportive!
I don't have anything crafty to hook up, but I am now following Trista on G+
Wishing you a less tiring week next week, it' shard to get back in the groove that first couple of weeks. Ours is coming up soon too.
Our hop is anything goes… just link up any post you want to share with us! No need for crafty!
Thanks so much for the linkup. Also I love the name – Purpose Driven Wife. That's genius. Comical too.
I think it's a great name. Really thoughtful one. Trista's pretty cool too!
walking is something I'm going to be doing much more of when my daughter starts school I'm going to walk down to the school with her bright and early her school starts at 8:25 am and instead of having to wait for the bus and drive around town when we just live down the street two blocks I plan on walking and when the weather get's crappy I'll have her dad drive her before he takes off for work or she can get on the bus. I need to loose weight and I think walking is a good way to get me moviated. I'm going to check out that walkadool thing.
Definitely! My daughter isn't in school yet and man, it's so hot outside to just walk around the corner. I think if she were going to school I could keep her in a good mood the entire time. She loves "going" places. But to walk to go home doesn't make for a good walk in our house. I like the fact that walking is FREE! No excuses, except weather.
I think this is always a big adjustment at this time of year. Before you know it, you'll have a system down and you won't remember the struggles!
Thanks for the enthusiasm. I need to figure something out. When I used to work, all of this seemed easier. But I just don't know what to do with two under three all day long!
I think a lot of people would be shocked if they wore a tracker and saw just how little they moved. I run several times a week and still wear one. On my non-running days I am always disappointed when my step count is low. It is awesome that you see yours is low and are working on it! You will soon be the crazy lady pacing back and forth in front of your house to get those last steps in – this is something ever runner has done!
Yes! On one of my first days of wearing it, I think I came in under 100 steps! (Did I just admit that?) But I didn't go anywhere and the kids weren't home. It was a lazy day, but I didn't know it was THAT lazy. So, now, I'm climbing to about 2000 steps a day. I think I've been good on the progression upwards and staying consistent. I do want to start running when the weather cools though.
back to school has been very hectic for us
this link up is great for us right now, plenty ideas we can implement right away!
Awesome! So glad you found the posts helpful! I love our linkers.
Congrats on hitting your walking goals! And great link-up, thank you! I linked up a post
Whoop! Whoop! I'm finally making some real progress. Now I need to step up the exercise a bit. Thank you so much for stopping by and linking up!
Woohooo well done on reaching your goal! I'm not sure I would manage to do so many everyday x
I think seeing it on the computer, then seeing what others are doing makes me really want to up my walks. It was easier when I didn't know to be lazy. Now, I feel like I have to get up and do SOMETHING, even if it's chasing the kids around the house for absolutely no reason! But of course, they LOVE that!
Football season is perfect for walking around here…a little cooler and the leaves will start turning pretty colors. I have a hard time doing it in summer, but fall beckons.
Well, even though this is my second fall in Florida, it will be the first one when I wasn't 8 months pregnant. So, I'll be able to check out the lay of the land relaxed!
10,000 steps is a lot of steps. I don't have any idea how many I do a day. Some days probably more than others.
I was surprised that some days it could get so LOW. I know it wasn't a lot, but a couple of hundred steps feels like nothing!
I take my free time and blog, read or even go out and get a mani/pedi to relax
Yes, that's what I need to do. Get out alone.
I recently had surgery on my leg, but I'm really looking forward to doing more walking once I'm ready for it.
Oh yes, surgery can really kick you in the behind. I hope you are able to get up and move soon!
A walkadoo? That's a fun name. I am trying to get more exercise in and I like this idea.
Yes, I never thought about that, but yes it's a funny name. It's a really cute and simple device.
What a neat idea. This is the first time I have heard about this but I have been trying to get more walking into my schedule. I am like Denise I am waiting for fall's cooler weather to really push myself. It was 103 this weekend and that is just a little to hot for my tastes.
I HATE the hot (and humid) weather. I would love to just wait until it cools down, but since moving to Florida, it never really cools down. It gets cooler, but it's all relative! It's "only" 97 around these parts, but over 100 with the humidity index.
I am looking forward to the cooler fall weather for gearing up my fitness routine.
Yippee! You go girl! I am too. Just let me know when it's cooler. I'll have to take your word for it.
Okay, I know I have to walk more – I can't even imagine doing 10000 steps a day and am sure I'm closer to your 400! — but you've inspired me and I'm going to start!
I think 10,000 is 2 miles. but I need to do more. I like that I can make slow changes, instead of starting at 10K!
These are such cute ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for coming by!
It has been awhile for me. My sons are out of college. It has to be tough to have that many hours with kids that young and still get your housework and blogging done. My kids always liked the physical activities. Even if it was raining outside we would have indoor nerf basketball or those type of games. After enough of that they were ready to sit down for some quiet time and do some independent play.
I would love to do outside activities, but it's so hot. I haven't quite figured out why so many of the local parks aren't covered by trees, so they are incredibly hot to get on. I wish I ot more into the kiddie physical activities, but it's just been so long, I'm completely out of practice.
What a great linkup! My favourite is the first one…the freebie…"Cat's out the bag."
LOL! I do too! Hope you linked up!
This is a great way to set goals and network with like-minded individuals. Thank you for hosting.
Thank you for coming by! I love my linkers!
I need to walk more, it's so important! So awesome you are hitting your goals! Keep it up!
I just have to make bigger goals so I can ultimately hit my weight loss goal!
Keep up the great work. I don't want to know how pathetic my steps would be.
LOL! It's hard to digest at first. The first week, I was like "who cares?". But after a week, I looked and said "I could do better". Especially when you have that day where a bunch of steps are easy… then you don't really want to go back.
It's HARD trying to get those 10,000 steps in. I have added another day of the week to go to Zumba. And while most days I try to talk myself out of going, I know if I don't I'll kick myself later.
You're awesome! I wish I could do a gym right now, but I have to find other ways to work out. I know what you mean about kicking myself later. I do that too many times.
That pizza panini looks delicious. Well, they all look delicious, really.
If you love pizza, how can you not love it so your hands don't get messy?
Ohh that app sounds interesting! I'm going to give it a look. Also, can't believe wait time for pick up is SO long. My school doesn't allow anyone close to the entrance so there's never any build-up of cars. But it's a small school which is likely not your case..
They were legitimate. They have these passes which call the children from inside (so they aren't waiting in the hot sun until their parents arrived), yet some of them didn't work and all parents hadn't picked there's up yet. Because of that, it was a hot mess most of the week. If it were just for me, I wouldn't have minded much, just having two little ones, it's a lot more intense, especially when you're not moving and you can't park to go to the bathroom.
I had never heard of walkadoo, but it sounds like a good tool to help with weight loss. I need to look into this. Thanks for sharing!
I hadn't either. It's pretty cool. I look forward to logging in every day!
The first week back at school is always an adjustment, but your pick-up line sounds insane!!! Haven't they figured out by now that they need a new system in place?
By the way, thanks for the link-up!
No, it was the first week of school, literally… a brand, spanking new school. They said by the end of the year at the last school they opened, pick up was less than 10 minutes. We'll see. Thanks for stopping by and linking up!
I remember the long carpool lines and the feeling that it lasted all day. So glad I homeschool now and don't have to worry about that anymore. I hope your week gets better
We've been tossing around homeschooling for my little two… but we'll see! Thank you. So far, this week is a lot better… about 20 minutes in line.
I need to start walking again. I have just been so tired from working though. But once it cools down here, I am thinking about walking a couple of miles at least.
I know. It's so hard when you're tired, but so worth it in the end. Go you! 10,000 steps is about 2 miles, I believe.
Awesome, sounds like a great accomplishment! Keep it up.
Thanks! I'm working on it!
I need to start walking more. I am starting the homeschool year and I think I'll add an hour of exploration to our day. It will be great to get the baby ready for a nap, too!
I wish I could consistently take a nap. Almost every time, at least one of them gets upset before we're even half way done. Good luck with the homeschooling! I'm considering it with my two little ones.
I love that little mosaic pot!! What an easy DIY and super cheap too! Just what I needed for my new porch
Awesome! Make sure you link it up!
Hooray for being done with potty training! We just recently got through that stage and I couldn't be more thrilled whenever my son calls for me to come wipe his butt, because that means he went on the toilet!
Yay! We have an occasion accident, yet it's all poop. I love that I'm not buying diapers for her any more! (well, only night time ones). A lot less $$.
What a lovely set of ideas you have here !
Thanks. I hope you are able to use them.
Great visual feedback on your steps and know get where you stand too.
Yes. I am really liking it. It really opened my eyes.
I know what it's like when you want to work out but this lazy bug keeps creeping up on you. Haha. Gotta squish those bugs away!
I like that description… the Lazy Bug! Yes, they are creepy and intense!
